GUWAHATI, March 16, 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to nurturing academic
excellence and recognising meritorious students, The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) organised a Monthly
Scholarship Award Ceremony to honour students who secured the Semester Topper Scholarship for the Odd
Semester Examination 2025–26.
A total of 156 students from various departments and semesters were awarded a monthly scholarship of ₹3,000
in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements. Among them, 37 students received Certificates of
Merit, as they are already recipients of other prestigious scholarships offered by the University.
Shri Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS, IGP (Law & Order), Assam, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event
was also graced by Dr A. K. Pansari, Chancellor of RGU; Prof AK Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, RGU; Prof
Dhrubajyoti Borah, Advisor to the Chancellor & Author-in-Residence; Prof. Nandana Dutta, Dean (Academics) at
RGU, apart from others.
Addressing the students, Shri Akhilesh Kumar Singh said, “Choose your career according to your own aptitude.
Planning is the pillar of your career, and with hard work you can define your own destiny. Let your
decisions be guided by your own understanding and vision, not merely by what others think or say.” He said
that while achieving success is commendable, sustaining it requires constant discipline, hard work, and
dedication. Urging them to stay focused and determined, he said that destiny is shaped through perseverance
and sincere effort, and that every important decision in life should be guided by one’s own perception and
ideas rather than by the opinions or expectations of others.
Dr. A.K. Pansari stated that RGU has consistently promoted a culture of excellence not only in academics but
also in co-curricular activities. He highlighted several student-centric scholarship schemes instituted by
the University, including the Royal Merit Scholarship, Zubeen Garg Scholarship (policy for promotion of
extra-curricular activities), Royal Shaurya (full Freeship to the wards of Braveheart security personnels,
and Royal Suraksha (50% scholarship for wards of serving and retired security personnel). The newly
introduced Zubeen Garg Scholarship is provided under the categories of Sports (both individual and team
sports), Cultural Activities (Dance, Music, Theatre, Fine Arts) and Literary (Debate) activities.
Earlier, Prof. Nandana Dutta, Dean (Academics) at RGU, addressed the students, congratulating them on their
achievement and encouraging them to continue working hard. She advised them to remain focused on their
academics, stay committed to their goals, and strive for excellence to shine in their respective fields.
