Guwahati Royals unveiled at Assam Premier League launch

Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma unveils Guwahati Royals’ official team identity along with APL logo, trophy and participating franchises

GUWAHATI, June 21, 2026: Guwahati Royals, a Royal Group initiative, was officially unveiled today as one of the eight participating franchises of the inaugural Assam Premier League during a launch ceremony organised by the Assam Cricket Association at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara.

The official identity and logo of Guwahati Royals were unveiled by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also formally launched the Assam Premier League logo, trophy and the identities of the participating franchises.

The event was attended by Shri Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, as Guest of Honour. Shri Taranga Gogoi, President of Assam Cricket Association, Shri Sanatan Das, Secretary of Assam Cricket Association, along with senior ACA officials, administrators, franchise owners and members of Assam’s cricketing fraternity were also present.

The launch of the Assam Premier League marks an important moment for cricket in Assam, with the league expected to provide a structured, professional and home-grown platform for emerging cricketers from the state. The inaugural edition will feature eight franchises representing different regions of Assam — Guwahati Royals, Jorhat Stallions, Tezpur Titans, Dibrugarh Warriors, Barak Legends, Nagaon Rangers, Barpeta Braves and Charaideo Sunrisers.

Guwahati Royals will represent the spirit, pride and aspirations of the state’s capital city and aims to build a strong cricketing identity rooted in discipline, performance, local pride and fan engagement.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr A.K. Pansari, Chairman, Royal Group, said the unveiling of Guwahati Royals by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was a proud and emotional moment. “Cricket has the power to unite people, inspire young talent and create new dreams. Through Guwahati Royals, our vision is to contribute meaningfully to Assam’s sporting ecosystem and help build a professional platform where young cricketers from our state can believe, perform and rise,” Dr Pansari said. “As a group deeply rooted in Assam and committed to youth development through education, institution-building and social initiatives, we see Guwahati Royals as another step towards empowering the next generation,” he added.

The franchise will draw inspiration from the energy, ambition and cultural pride of Guwahati, a city that has emerged as one of the key sporting, educational and youth hubs of Northeast India. The team will be guided by a long-term vision to nurture cricketing talent, build a loyal fan community and represent Guwahati with pride on the Assam Premier League platform.

The matches of the inaugural edition of the Assam Premier League will be broadcast live on Star Sports and streamed on JioHotstar, taking Assam’s premier T20 competition to cricket fans across the country.
