GUWAHATI, October 8, 2025: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) hosted a remarkable edition of TEDxRoyalGlobalUniversity last evening, where
creativity, authenticity, and transformative thought converged under the evocative theme “Original by Nature.”
The distinguished line-up of speakers included Bambi Kevichüsa, acclaimed fashion designer from Nagaland; Devajit
Saikia, Advocate General of Assam and Secretary of the BCCI; Nise Meruno, internationally renowned concert pianist; and
Ranjit Barthakur, noted social entrepreneur and strategist. Together, they delivered compelling narratives that
challenged conventional thought and spotlighted the role of individuality in shaping meaningful change.
Speaking about the journey of curating the event, Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan, Deputy Dean of the Department of Student
Welfare at RGU and Lead Licensee & Curator of TEDxRoyalGlobalUniversity, said, “Organising the programme was both a
profound responsibility and a rewarding experience. TEDx is a great platform for sharing ideas, naturally original and
unapologetically bold.”
The evening also witnessed a deeply emotional moment towards the end when concert pianist Nise Meruno paid a moving
tribute to legendary Assamese musician Zubeen Garg. Performing the notation score of Garg’s beloved composition
“Mayabini” in the piano for the first time.
Fashion designer Bambi Kevichüsa, celebrated for her couture bridal brand Bambi K, spoke about her creative journey
rooted in identity and tradition. She illustrated how she seamlessly blends global aesthetics with the cultural heritage
of Nagaland, redefining bridal couture with authenticity and elegance for clients across India and beyond.
In a gripping reflection on versatility and perseverance, Devajit Saikia traced his evolution from cricket fields to
courtrooms and back into sports administration. Sharing anecdotes from mountaineering trails to legal battles, he
highlighted the power of passion and discipline in navigating diverse professional landscapes.
Social entrepreneur Ranjit Barthakur offered insights drawn from his decades-long engagement with grassroots development
across the Eastern Himalayas. His work, deeply anchored in environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and
social innovation, emphasized the urgent need for responsible development rooted in nature.
Trained in Singapore and acclaimed globally, Nise Meruno spoke about how music transcends geography, uniting hearts
through emotion and originality. He also mesmerised the audience by performing the notation score of Zubeen Garg’s
beloved composition “Mayabini” for the first time.
The audience, comprising students, faculty, professionals, artists, and cultural enthusiasts, engaged deeply with the
talks, which collectively explored how the untamed landscapes and ethnic diversity of Northeast India ignite creativity
and thought leadership.
Upholding TED’s spirit of sharing “ideas worth spreading,” TEDxRoyalGlobalUniversity celebrated voices that dare to
think differently and act with purpose. Like all TEDx events, it was independently organised with a commitment to local
storytelling and global impact.
