RGU joins hands with Indian Museum Kolkata to hold 7-day-long Exhibition& Workshops

GUWAHATI, May 11, 2026: The Assam Royal Global University is set to host a landmark cultural and academic initiative in collaboration with the Indian Museum, Kolkata, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The programme is being organised in celebration of International Museum Day 2026 and the commemoration of 150 Years of Vande Mataram. Significantly, this will be the first time that the Indian Museum is curating such an exhibition in Northeast India, making it a historic cultural occasion for the region.

The event will be inaugurated on 13th May at RGU campus, and it will be graced by the Director, Indian Museum, Kolkata, apart from others. A major highlight of the event will be the launch of a specially curated exhibition titled “Bharat – Contours of Continuity”, featuring rare replicas and heritage treasures from the collections of the Indian Museum.

The special exhibition will remain open for seven days, from 13th to 21st May 2026, offering students, scholars, and the public a unique opportunity to experience the rich cultural legacy preserved by one of India’s most esteemed museums.

The programme will also feature two specialised workshops on 14th and 15th May 2026 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, conducted by experts from the Indian Museum and Prof. Susmita Basu Majumdar, Department of Ancient Indian History and Culture, University of Calcutta.
