Royal Global University & Tea Board of India jointly celebrates International Tea Day

GUWAHATI, May 25, 2026: The Assam Royal Global University, in collaboration with the Tea Board of India, has recently celebrated International Tea Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation from students, faculty members, and distinguished guests. The celebration was conducted in accordance with this year’s International Tea Day theme, “Sustaining Tea, Supporting Communities,” emphasizing the importance of promoting sustainable tea practices and recognizing the contribution of tea-growing communities towards social and economic development.

The celebration featured a variety of competitions and interactive sessions conducted across different venues within the university campus. A Poster Making Competition was organized, where students showcased their creativity and artistic skills by presenting innovative ideas and themes related to tea and its significance.

A Quiz Competition was conducted, which witnessed enthusiastic participation and reflected students’ knowledge and awareness regarding tea, culture, and related topics. In addition, a Video Making Competition was also organized as part of the celebration. To appreciate and encourage excellence, attractive cash prizes were awarded to the winners of all competitions. The prizes included:1st Prize – ₹10,000; 2nd Prize – ₹8,000; 3rd Prize – ₹5,000.



The Chief Guest for the occasion was D. M. Kakoti, Deputy Director, Tea Board. The event was further graced by the presence of several eminent dignitaries and industry representatives, including Dipanjol Deka, Secretary, Tea Association of India; Abhijit Sharma, Secretary, Assam Branch, Indian Tea Association; Priyanuj Dutta, Secretary, Guwahati Tea Auction Centre; Dinesh Bihani, Rahul Nundy, Sanjay Chaudhury, Biswajit Borah.

One of the highlights of the event was the Tea Sample Tasting Session, where a wide range of tea varieties from different regions of the country were displayed and offered for tasting. Students and faculty members had the opportunity to experience diverse flavours, aromas, colours, and brewing styles, making it an enriching and informative experience.

Additionally, tea distribution was arranged, where tea was served to students and members of the university community, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere across the campus.The program concluded with the Valedictory Ceremony and Prize Distribution.
